A heartfelt thanks for all of your very kind comments on yesterday’s photo. If I didn’t have dial up I’d thank all of you personally like so many bloggers do, but I can’t. Anyway, I wasn’t particularly thrilled with the photo I posted, and didn’t even check my comments all day yesterday. So, you all really put a smile on this photographer’s face this morning when I read your compliments. Thank you.
Today’s shot is of the Foster Post Office. It sits at the cross roads of Rt. 14 and 660. There is only room for a couple of cars at a time to pull in and pull right out again and yet while I was there many customers showed up. I had a hard time getting my shots in with all of their vehicles coming and going. I had mine pulled as far up as possible so as not to get into the frame. I did get to say Hi to the friendliest folks, too, as they came and went.
The NO PARKING sign belongs to the yard that sets right next to the post office. My guess is that folks use their drive way when the lot at the post office is filled.
LOvely sky here micki.. Love it
perfect exposure....beautiful color and sharpness....love the cloud...btw happy new year to u and yr family:-))
Another quaint country scene captured beautifully.
I like a lot your series about post-offices... An unusual vision of the states for the european...
A nice slice of Americana.
Micki. I like the sky, clouds and fall colours in this one. I notice that you used a wide angled lens and that you have the same effect in your photo that I get with my 17-35mm lens ... that is, that part of the image on the edges tend to look 'turned up'. I'm sure there's a technical term for this but I don't know it.
Very nice shot, Micki. Good colors. I really like these "Glimpse of My Town Tuesdays".
Wow now THAT looks like a great day to be alive. :)
Obviously one of our state of the art postal facilities. Great shot. Ya know, I just had to rub that lens in his face!
What a find! I love small post offices such as this. The building is so inviting, unlike the "cloned" post offices that seem to be taking over.

I would love to visit your area. It is very quaint and pretty.
I love this mood and your living place :)
Finally comments are working.
Great pic. Don't see those PO often anymore.
Wonderful scene! Wish I could be there.
You really show the small town feel in your posts and this great shot is no exception. I love the sky and all the sharp colors.
Lovely shot. great feel.
so is this where all your ebay goodies get delivered?
Love your new scanner! very sharp and clean images.
i love this, micki :o) about as "small town" as it gets. i want to visit!
Micki, thanks for sharing the beauty of your town !
Funny. I was wondering about a No Parking sign right in front of the post office! :-)
Like this a lot. So American. The colors are also beautiful. :)
I'm having ISSUES with comments and Blogger, grrrr... anyway, where do you find these rural settings in coastal Virginia lovely. BTW, slap that kid of mine around! :)
Beautiful shot!
A beautifully crisp capture of this rural scene - you do have a way with post offices!
