WEDNESDAYS ARE FOR COLOR -- Golden Child

Golden sands lit up by a dying flame,
I saw her by the shore,
unknown and without a name.
Her silhouette against the sky,
the last of the shimmering waves sparkled near her feet,
I watched, and wished the day....goodbye.

Thanks for all your comments yesterday. I really wasn’t too thrilled with my photos. You all made my morning when I read the comments page today.

Two weeks ago I took the kids out to the Bethel Beach Nature Area Preserve. I was looking for wildlife on the east coast of the peninsula. The view of the Chesapeake Bay was beautiful, as was the beach. Actually, it’s an amazing place. You drive way out to the ends of nowhere. You park your car at the end of a really muddy dirt road (no parking area, so I turned around to face back out again, just in case more people arrived) that’s bordered on both sides with salt a salt marsh, and then you have to walk the rest of the way. The only wild life I saw were a couple of seagulls and five teenage boys fishing, one wading up to his waist in the ocean water. (I grabbed a few pics – those might show up some time soon.) My kids had a great time while I waited for the sunset behind us. We went to the end of the beach to hang out, where the water comes back around and in again. I’ll go back next time the skies are prettier to get some shots. Anyway, there’s so much energy there with the waves rolling in and the wind blowing, the noise levels were pretty high. Pity they close at sunset. No one there to enforce the rule, but that also means that no one is there if you get into trouble. So, I begrudgingly left shortly after the sun went down.

Oh, good news! I found another lab (two actually, but one is WAY out of my price range) that will give me optical photographic prints from my film and for my enlargements. This is proving to be a most difficult quest.

This is remarkable. Personal, in its way, but sharable, too. The ultra-extreme contrast has held together as it can only do on film and your golden original must really be something. And thanks for the narrative : as always, it allows us to get closer to the image.

silhouettes are amazing in the first place. But I have to think your eyes lit up when you got this print. This is an amazing shot. The silhouette is perfect, the sun reflection is breath taking. Wow. Outstanding.

Beautiful silhouette, Micki.

It's funny, when I'm not thrilled with one of my fotos, I usually recieve more comments on them. Maybe that's someone's way of telling you not to be so hard on yourself. :-)
