Well, I wasn't paying attention, teacher, but I'll take a guess anyway before I read the other comments. It looks like the cover to an air conditioning unit, or perhaps some time of refrigeration unit. How'd I do?
Like the previous comments said, Isuppose it is a protection again heating system ?

It's the fins behind the case for a HVAC (heating, ventilating, air conditioning) unit.

i would guess an air conditioning unit; but that's probably far too obvious a guess to be right!!
excellent shot.And I too like simple shots without all the "trickery" that seems to abound these days.Compose the shot,shoot it,post it!!!
My vote would be in the air conditioner camp - perhaps an extension tube or two would place this one a bit more out of context. The abstract fan in me is craving a larger-scale detail of that grille and fin pattern...
