TAKE A GUESS -- #16

I’ve not been surfing the blogs as much as I usually do (which was, admittedly, too much). I sure do miss that, but it’s summer time and so much is going on. If I didn’t have to sleep…

Anyway, this is just one of those days when I really am thankful for this hobby. What a creative release!

Had a great time with my son yesterday evening. We shot baskets together until he learned not to lose his temper when we missed. The less he lost his temper, the better we began to do. Soon we were making almost every one. He released all that energy that builds up during the day that has been keeping him up late these past couple of months, and he fell right to sleep last night. He’s still sleeping – almost 11 hours later. Now, will the lesson stick, or will we have to relearn again this evening?

Time to take your best guesses. I need to come up with some more Take a Guess shots.

See you all tomorrow.

Good challenge back to you. I'm not sure. It looks like gravel, but I don't think it's that easy. And the lower right is throwing me off.

Looks like the edge and surface of roofing shingles. My husband says it looks like a hunk of asphalt from a road or driveway.

But it will probably wind up being a piece of chocolate with chopped nuts coating it.

I can't wait to find out.

No, this has me beat, Micki. Not even a guess.

I'd say chocolate cake!

sandpaper, chocolate & shingles are great guesses & one of them is bound to be right, but i'll go with:

a bunch of gunk on the bottom of someone's shoes.

but i hope it's chocolate cake-that's much more appealing. :)

I'm going to go with a 'asphalt and other random stuff off a driveway'.

This one is really tricky, Micki!

Okay Micki, I don't usually come close with these contests, but I'm going to try anyway. My first instinct when I saw this image was: it's dirt at the bottom of an aquarium, used as a lizard or snake habitat.

Great texture and DOF

Mmmmm. Really hard one this time Micki. It looks like a gravel path although the black area in the corner is confusing ... maybe a shadow. However the guess that said gravel in an aquarium or lizard or snake (or turtle) habitat is appealing. I think I'll go with this one. Well done for stumping us all. Chris

I'm thinking of some kind of rock.

Very cool Micki! I'm going to go with some serious grit sandpaper...the kind that shaves off layers of wood in a hurry!

I have no idea! You've got some good responses, though.

Fantastic shot, I especially love the stunning amount of detail you got.And that natural lens blur is awesome.
No clue what it is.Maybe mosiac tiling (pieces) but I have my doubts.

Being so late to the party, I won't venture a 'guess' here, but I will say that I do quite enjoy the DoF dimensional sense here - anchored at bottom right by the dark section, a taste of texture mid-frame followed up by a beautiful bokeh in the back. Nice!
