I drove my oldest to her friend’s house a couple of weekends ago, and on the way home I stopped to do some shooting. It was cloudy and dreary, but I don’t get time to shoot alone but once in a blue moon. I had the camera set up on a tripod to take some abstract shots of store rooftops and awnings in my little downtown village, when I noticed that in the front window of the oriental rug cleaning store I was standing in front of, I had attracted the attention of a curious cat. He sat in the window watching me for a few minutes while I shot happily away. The glare on the window was very strong, and despite the use of my polarizer, I couldn’t cut through all of it. The lens couldn’t focus on the cat, and kept focusing on the window instead. Thank goodness the cat had that bell around his neck, because I used that to lock focus on. When he let out a little yawn, just as I was about to shoot, I knew I would have my best of the series.
Had a great time shooting with the Holga yesterday. Two frames left. Also took some shots with a roll of T-max 3200. I loaded that into my Minolta 9000, as it’s the only camera I have with shutter speeds that go up to 1/4000. I knew I’d want some limited dof with my compositions, and that I wouldn’t be able to go as wide with the other two cameras, whose shutter speed limits are 1/2000. Sure enough, a couple of my shots ended up as 1/3000 and 1/4000. This is going to be a fun roll of film to shoot.

Isn't great to make a catch like that! Love it!
I love the "our Beacon" and the prices and the cat looking very indifferent to it all!! Great shot.

great picture Micki.. Cats are such diffident creatures at times, this one may have been yawning thinking 'she should have gone with digital...'

Yawning is it? It looks to me like it just heard a good one.

You could have some fun with those shutter speeds, my Minolta 9xi has a top speed of 1/12000 of a second, but have never managed to use it at that setting! Nice shot.

That cat looks ready to star in a cartoon, Micki! What a happy shot.
Nooo, you took this picture instead of meee. Noooooooo.
This is such a priceless capture.Hey why can't I get our cat to yawn like this?
The background actually works for this shot, lends some life into the shot. Darn, this should have been taken by the Subster.
Anyway you get yourself a coveted "I Likey" from the Subster for this absolutely lovely and brilliant shot.
Suby
Haha! Even though the cat was yawning, but it looks like showing a BIG smile to everybody. Nice capture.
