The Old Coke Building

Something about that old (or old-styled) lamp post really adds to the nostalgic feeling of this shot. I may have to go down there and take a look at this myself sometime. Great shot.

Thanks also for your comments on my photoblog, I appreciate them. :)

This is another exposure from my expired roll of Tri-X film. I had just packed up the 500mm zoom and was about to close the back door to the van when I thought that this might make a good enough shot. After all, the roll of film was old, what did I have to lose? So, I popped on the 300mm zoom and took this photo of the "Old Coke Building" as it is called. I don't know all the history, but Coca-Cola no longer has any business dealings in the building. Maybe the sign remains as a testament to what once was. After all, that is kind of a big deal for a small town like ours. Now that I know we are staying in the area for a good long while (my husband received an awesome promotion yesterday!), I think I can finally put down some roots and take the time to settle in and get to know the area better. Where we'd be living has always hung in the air for the past 11 years as we've made a couple of moves from state to state.

Great shot! Like a view of the past, almost literally, between the old film and the old landmark building.

Great news about that promotion!

I've always loved bricks in b/w - this shot is no exception :-)

Coke is starting to eat buildings now after consuming the cola market.

Cool vintage looking shot. What's really cool is that no matter where in the world you are you can find Coke signs.

Just to let you know that Coca Cola tastes a lot better in the US than it does in the UK :-)

I like it, and the lamp indeed gives a little bit of a nostlagic feeling :)

Congratulations for your husbands promotion, I wish for more happy news in the future :)

May I ask (if its ok), why you moved from state to state? :)

This is a cultural landmark. Speaks to my heart as an ex Diet Coke junkie (used to have at least a can a day). Works beautifully in b&w.

Nice classy shot. Don't know if the lamp adds to the image or takes something away from it.

Aaaaaaaah, the ever prominent cc.sign. It gave me quite a bit of a chuckle, because I went for stroll yesterday and found an old building with the same lettering, it only spelled the name of the youth center... I will put it on my blog tomorrow. If you're interested come by and have a look.
