I love this abandoned house that’s not too far from me. I’ve been taking quite a few pictures of it lately. It was an absolutely beautiful day when I shot this. I used a polarizer to darken the sky. This is a shot of one of four lighting rods on the house. At least, I think that’s what they are….
Anyway, the roof of the house was recently painted a brighter yellow, I wonder if someone will be moving in soon. Better get all my shooting in if that’s the case, as it will lose all its charm when they start fixing things up.

Wow! Do you live in an area that requires no less that four lightning rods on one roof? Or is this house empty because the owner was escorted to a "better place" one day by a nice man in a white coat?
Four lightning rods? You sure the previous residents weren't aliens in disguise that were picked up by the transmitters on the roof?
hahaha.. TMI (too much imagination...)
Great work with the polarizer, sky looks really nice...
I love that lightning arrester. It looks like a space needle. Cool.
I like polarizers too. You really need one out here in California or the sky washes out. I have one mounted on all my lenses save for the macro. They really make the sky "pop."
nice work.
Neat composition, but I'm very curious about the rest of the house!
Micki, sorry not feeling this shot. Does nothing for me. Sorry.

I'm assuming that the '1' in today's title is an indication that there will be more views of this old gem to follow :-) Featuring the lightning rod as an opener really gets the curiosity going...
A place advised for does not practice it of the parachuting. The photo has very pretty colors.
yellow and blue r great colors contrast here....i like the angle and the way u frame it:-) great capture
This would have been a good 'guess what this is' shot. And what is a lightning rod's purpose?
I love abandoned house because I surch in one abandoned spirit.
Good evening.
It's interesting that they painted the roof. I never heard of painting a roof.
I like the color combo in this shot. Yellow and blue are good together.
Definitely interesting; the subject is not what I expected. Now if you could just get a shot of it with a bolt of lightning attached to it!
perhaps when they fix the house up there will be more builders for you take pictures of - haha
Strange how this picture - with its simple line of the roof - really does convey abandonment - I fell empty just looking at it - although i have been feeling quite emotional lately - perhaps its just me -
We don't have lightning rods where I live. I was wondering what it was....
If there is indeed that much lightning in your area, I'm patiently awaiting some lightning shots.
Looks like there are some nice carving underneath the roof. Or is it just my eyes? :)
I need one of those for my head.
