A lot of you know about my woes with the lab that had been doing my developing for the past 4 ½ years. I’d watched the quality of work decline steadily, until it picked up speed at the end of last year and made a run for disastrous this month. When they went from not only damaging prints, but ruining the negatives as well, I’d had it.
I live in a very rural area, the only place to have film developed is at discount stores’ one hour labs or the labs they send out to. Neither of which were working. The closest pro shop is an hour away, and that’s not convenient. Then I remembered, how 22 years ago, I used to send my film out to York Labs. So I tried that. I sent my first rolls out last weekend, and received back four developed rolls in yesterday’s mail. I couldn’t be more pleased. Much better quality and I’m feeling back on track again
OK, so I knew I’d get some flare shooting right into this sunrise photo, but I did it anyway. I’m so pleased that the flare worked perfectly with the reflection on the water. So this is my New Hope on the Horizon shot.

A special thanks to my oldest, who – when she finally woke up – was able to show me a different way to post a picture! Love that computer savvy kid of mine!
That's a beautiful shot! : ) Good to hear about your developed rolls
Another great shot of the sun! Makes me want to try my own hand at it. Whats this new way of posting a picture that you were told about? I would sure like to know.
Superb sunrise shot just like a postcard.
My brilliant daughter put my photo up on image shack and then she just pasted the tag to the photo where you would type in a message. When I saved the post and then looked here, there was my picture! (How's that for tech talk!)
I use a program called Picasa for posting to blogger. Even though you use film you should be able to just scan them into picasa and then hit "blog it" and it will put it in for you. It is directly related to e-blogger by google. I got Picasa with Gmail. It makes posting here completely effortless an incredibly quick.
As I said in the other reply this is a lovely sunrise photo.
I was going to get up early this morning and do some shooting but it never happened. Now I wish I did! Lovely! I am glad you found a good developer. How frustrating! With digital...oh never mind.(Just teasing). I also use Piscasa and it is very easy. Takes seconds.
Picasa is great- and this photo look beautiful! Very positive and symbolic!
Great sky and sunrise, like the pier and the distant ship. Very nice shot
It looks like a painting...fantastic colour in the sky.
Forgot to ask on the shoes picture..just when do you get time to sleep ?
You have obtained a beautiful resistance of colors. I congratulate to you.

What a great sunrise! well Done! looks like a beautiful place!
Amazing sunrise capture Micki! What a beautiful spot.
Great news on the developer. It's sad that so many places don't care to treat your memories as any more than a way to make money and more often than not, ruin them.
Great capture Micki.
sooo beautiful! I love sunsets :)
And I think your daughter is a very smart kid;)
Happy for the good news too, no more bad quality developed photos ;)

I'll add my voice to the chorus of "Oohs" and "Ahs"...

Nice sunset shot with lovely contrast between the sky and the sea.
Beautiful sunset image Micki!
Beautiful ! Those are the moments which we need to enjoy more ! Gorgeous !
Despite the strong light, you captured the texture in the water really well. It's always worth it to wake up for the sunrise. :)
The columns alignment is a little out as i see it, or is it just my computer?

I'm glad to hear the good news...and this photo works wonderfully with it. I just love the feel of it.

This is a great shot. Glad you found a good place to develop pics, and you have a smart kid!
Oooooooooh. This photograph reminds me of a song I heard a short while ago. But for the life of me, I can't remember what it was called.
Very beautiful.
Nice job capturing a big sun. It always disappears behind clouds when I try! Beautiful photograph!
