My Little Poser

My youngest daughter loves the camera, most times. If Mommy needs a model to practice on, she’s ready. Last year, towards the end of the warm weather, we took these. We’d all been chuckling at the TV ads we had been seeing that used fans to blow the models’ hair. It was becoming too common. Then we decided, we could do it as well. I still have one more daughter who has sit for me to do a “fan shot.” She insists it won’t work on her because she has curly hair. I’m on a mission to prove her wrong, if I can catch her first.

These were all shot using my Minolta Maxxum 7000 and the Sigma 105mm lens. F-top was between 4 and 4.5 as the sun was already behind the trees at 5:30 that evening, and I was running out of light fast. I used my old stand by film, Fuji HQ ISO 100.

Beautiful shot of your youngest. She's a natural. And portrait photography is definitely one of your strengths.

The soft light works great! i particularly like the third one. A warming filter would give her skin more radiance - just my humble opinions. :)

thanks alot micki for dropping by! yeah, i felt like my site needed a layout change, i like simplistic designs. =D Out of these 3 photos, i think the second and third are the strongest. The second makes the most connection to the viewer while the third seems to portray the most emotion. Very nice. Also, very nice "bokeh" around her, its quite pleasing to the eye.

You have a lovely daughter. These are wonderful...The bottom one is my favorite.

My boys avoid me like the plague when I have the camera in hand. If I do "catch" them it is either from behind, or they give me some horrible face, or the hands immediately go up in front of their faces. Grrrr...boys!!!

Thanks for visiting my photoblog, and for the nice comments.

To answer your question, those are private homes and they have a lovely view, they share the same views that I posted here: http://capturethisphotoblog.blogspot.com/2006/03/view-from-atlantic-highlands-nj_06.html

Wow, you have captured something really special with number 2 Micki. Such a great expression.. the wind blowing.. the subtle lighting.. reminds me of something Felix Nadar would have recorded.

Great portraits Micki! The soft lighting is just perfect. Also, good job on the fan usage...I'll be trying some "fan shots" soon too. Hope they turn out as great as yours did.
