Not a whole lot of time this morning. I’ve got a great story to share for A Smile for Wednesday’s, though. Hoping not to get rained out for the moon rise tonight. It rises about six minutes before sunset here, so it should be a good one…but the weather forecast doesn’t look good. Skies are clearing right now, so I’m hoping to do some test shots this morning.
Oh, passed this building several times a month for five years now, and only noticed it about two weeks before I shot this image one sunny Sunday morning. I don’t know what it is, I’m sure it’s not a business, but it looks too small to be an apartment. Then again, if I was 20, single, and low on cash, I could live here easily. No polarizer on this photo, these are just the wonderfully saturated colors I get from this used lens when I’ve got the sun to my back. I love this lens, when I can get it to work…it’s still so quirky, but I’m starting to figure it out how to coax it to work for me. $80 not wasted at all.
Camera - Konica Minolta 70
Film - Kodak Max ISO 400
Shutter Speed - 1/500
Aperture Setting - f-16 Program Mode
Lens - Sigma 24mm lens bought used from B&H Photo
Scanning Method - My scan from my cheap little hp officejet 5510v all-in-one copy/scanner/faxer/printer
Things I’m Thankful to Cliff For… Finally allowing me to use the push mower to mow around the dozens and dozens of little trees that lined our property. Oh sure, I hated it then, and sorry for the saplings I mowed down in my carelessness; but I sure did build up some good arm muscles…and work ethic.
Ah, wonderful 24mm convergence - great low-ish perspective. Love the bit of mirroring between the foreground fence line and the eaves of that tiny structure. I'd like to think that vintage Coca-Cola sign does something for the re-sale value on that place :-)
I love the perspective and composition of this shot Micki and the movement of colour from dark grey through to green, to the red of table and chairs and then the white of the building. I don't really like the brick building to the right of the image but I know you often can't have everything! :-) It is such a clear photo also. Chris
Ma again
Now I really like this one. Would make a good place to escape to with a glass of pink lemonade & a good Joanne Fluke book.
I love the comp and colors of this. Makes you want to sit and sip for awhile.
Funny small house, looks like a single person in a single room lives there... funny thought :-)
Love the perspective and the colours.
What a neat building! Very nicely captured Micki!
Haha what do you do at the coke house? Drink the cola? Haha this is very tickling. i'd love to have an icy cola on a hot afternoon. :)
Lovely viewpoint, and ofcourse the colors are lovely!
That’s a cute little cabin there and I like the details your shot picks up : the external power and the bricked-up window . . definitely a strange place for a table, two chairs and birdbath . .
It's adorable although some windows would be nice. Very lovely tones in this.
So why does a small town have a "coke" house (no pun intended) :P
Suby
I have that 24mm Sigma also, great close focusing as well. Nice shot
Coke house eh? A place where druggies can go to shoot coke.
Wow no polariser, yet look at that sky! I can never seem to get deep blues like that.
i like the angle of this photo...little cute red table set in front add the charming to the house ...great find:-))
L love it, nice one. You can tell when you are in The South, none of that wussy Pepsi stuff.
Charming little building! Nice camera angle
Finally upgraded my browser so now I can comment on your site! I love the birdbath in this shot.
If they rented that as an apartment you could be sure that the listing would use one of the following words: "cute", "cozy", "quaint", or "adorable". All euphamisms for "small". :-) Your town is so cool. I love it.
Lovely little coke house!
Lol a CocaCola house :D I like it, nice angle.
looks like someones converted their shed into a cafe for one! nice shot!
what a neat little place... I need a good prime lens that size. the colors and perspective came out great!
What I really like about this one is the perspective. The low camera point sets the angle just right for the house to appear so small and cute. And also the frames in the foreground are a very good leading line into the photograph.
Looks like a bargain vacation rental. Cool find.
