Leaving Home

Fell asleep around 10:30 last night, woke up a little before midnight to make an e-bay purchase for daughter #3’s birthday gift, and then hit some blogs for 2 ½ hours. Visited a lot of sites I’ve not seen in a few weeks. Mind you, 2 ½ hours isn’t that many hits when you have a dial up connection. I had fun, a little hot chocolate, some time to myself…

Just as I was ready to hit the hay, my older son woke up. After only four hours of sleep, he was rip roarin’ and ready to go. He’s still up. I barely got any sleep, what with his squeals and running around. Luckily it was a Friday night. The girls were up past four playing video games anyway (and quite loudly I might add,) and my younger son can sleep through anything. I was about losing my cool around 6:00 a.m., when my said older son sat down and gave me a kiss on each cheek. Now, he’s never been able to give kisses, and he still can’t. But he’s been watching his younger brother give us kisses on each cheek for the last couple of weeks. Son number two is quite loud and slurpy with his kisses, and this morning my older son made his best attempt at a kiss. Melted my heart and set me back on track! What’s a little lost sleep when this was my reward??

Good long exposure. Has a feminine, Southern charm to it with the hand lifting dress.

Gotta say I love the tone, its very suttle which relates to the picture, although moving out is a dramatic experience, looks very simple here.
GREAT GREAT SHOT!!

Your words always move me deeply, Micki. They invoke a lot of thoughts and feelings in me, but i don't really know how to put them to words. i'd be very thankful to have a mum like you.

It's football season already?
Btw.. congratulations on your son's first kisses. When my son allows me to scoop him up in my arms and hold him tight, it just melts my heart. Took him five years to get to that point.
Now.. if only we can get him potty trained!

This is a great image, looks nearly like a "ghostly" photo. Nicely done.

There's a spiritual quality about this image. Very ethereal and delicate. Well done.

You're right...what's a little sleep in the scheme of things. Years from now you won't remember anthing about this night but the kiss that ushered in the morning after.

Micki, your talents are amazing. I frankly believe there are two of you. The variety of shots and techniques you use covers the full gambit. I'll echo some of the same comments above. Ghostly, sensual, the story, the exposure time to create the effect. Excellent.

Hello,

I found your blog via JLC (which, I must say knows a lot of good adresses). I like very much this picture : ghostly as after a night without sleep... oups, i forgot it was nearly the case.

I will come often to see your shots. They are really nice.

Hello from Belgium.
