Regarding yesterday’s tale of woe with the blue birds. I do have a blue bird shot I will be posting in the near future. I managed to get quite of few of the parents, just not the babies. There was one in particular that I liked enough to post.
OK, today is Abstract Friday. I was looking through some old scans I did in April and found today’s image. I thought it would work under this theme. It was taken in late March or early April. The sun doesn’t climb up over the trees in my yard until two hours after sunrise at this time of year. So it takes awhile for the fog to burn off, and I had plenty of time to get this and several other foggy morning shots that day. This is the view northeast from my back door. We haven’t had a foggy day since then. Those are last year’s leaves on the oak tree in this shot. As it turned out, it and six other oaks around the house died over the winter. And before anyone comments…the trees in our woods grow crooked. We don’t have a single straight tree on our property. I suppose it’s because the growth is so thick and the trees so tall. They lean this way and that seeking out sunlight. Two of the largest dead oaks are leaning right towards our house about 15 feet from the front door. So, guess what we’ll be paying someone to do this summer?
If you are able to stop by tomorrow, I am posting two of my favorite pictures I’ve taken. They are of my favorite subject…eggs. I just shot them a couple of weeks ago and got the prints back yesterday. Don’t know if I’ll be able to scan them. One is very high key and one is very contrasty. Luckily the lab scanned the negatives for me.
Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by this week!

Excellen excellent shadow play...the dark sillhouette with the golden glow in the backgorund makes it look as though you're reaching for the sun...one of my favourites of yours.
Micki,
It almost looks like a double exposure with the background shot using a backlit sheet. Spooky!
Great atmosphere... Beautiful lightning!
Michael
Ooh...It kind of looks like trees growing in a cave that has water running through and the light is bouncinf of the water and illuminating the cave walls.
As others have said, awesome atmosphere and light in this shot Micki. Truly beautiful!
I think this may be my favorite shots by you. Really lovely shot.
Quite beautiful image. The play of light and shadow in the background.
Great atmosphere in this one.
Beautiful lighting, nice one!
Very nice, very atmospheric.
I love the atmosphere.
have a nice day ;)
Nice colours, good atmosphere and feel.
Beautiful shot Micki. I've always wanted to try photographing fog. The problem is that it hangs around in the early morning and I don't do mornings very well. This photo is lovely and it looks like you've got an amazing backyard.
Looking forward to the eggs!
nice !!! it's from a fairy tale ?
I love that! The background looks almost painted and the big bold silhouetted tree in front is just super.
Wonderful lighting here!
Not much to say after 19... count 'em, 19 previous comments! Sheesh!
Lovely shot Micki, good work as always.
Hi Micki.
Nice abstract image.
Have a nice weekend!!
Hi Micki,
this picture really is pure Romance :-)
I love the very nice Bokeh, the dreamy light, the shadows.
WOW! Those background colors are awesome. The silhouette is great, Micki. Kind regards, Brent
this has a very strong atmosphere to it, feels like a hot jungle...
What a great picture! You've seen the lighting situation very well! Seems you're very good in "playing" with light :) Thanks
This is a most impressive shot, Micki. The somber colors and reluctant light are very effective in this composition and I really do like it lots!
Lovely shot. Love the colours and the siloitte of the leaves.
micki, this is really a gorgeous shot. wow. the light, especially on the right side, is so fantastic. nice job!
Hi micki...

A wonderfully painterly view :-)
This is beautiful Micki, really nice feel to it.
This is beautiful, eerie and dreamy, all rolled into one. Like the forest in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Stunning!
